On this page: About the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod About the Latrobe Valley EisteddfodThe Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod is an annual major arts event spanning five and a half weeks in August and September each year. It covers the performing arts disciplines involving the singing voice, speech, piano, instrumental and dance. There is a whole weekend where the Country Music is presented, and another for brass instruments and bands. People travel from outside of the Gippsland region to participate, particularly in these two sections. To allow performers to travel, the open sections in the vocal, piano and instrumental disciplines are also held at weekends. Each year, the Eisteddfod gives some 4000 performers who have come from the local community and from throughout Gippsland and the wider community a chance to showcase their talents and experience performing before live audiences. From this performance the contestants receive an appraisal of their work given by highly qualified adjudicators. This critique is invaluable in the development of their talents. They also have a chance of being a recipient of part of the $35,000 offered in awards and prizes, much of which goes towards continuing their studies in their chosen fields. Prestigious events include: $1000 PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIRS The Eisteddfod Organising Committee meets monthly on the 3rd
